Betty Ashman: 5 Ways To Improve Work-Life Balance As A Mumpreneur

0

When you hear “work-life balance,” you probably imagine waking up easily at 5 a.m., hitting the gym, grabbing your meal-prepped lunch and heading off to work, just to come home early, cook dinner, do some chores, and wind down with a nice book in bed by 9 p.m. But that’s often not the case. Especially for mums.

1) Personal: There isn’t such thing as work-life balance

Instead of envisioning the perfect schedule, rely on a realistic one! If there are days you might focus more on work, there are other days where you’ll have more time and energy to unwind with the family to try out the new recipe or simply hit the snooze. Eventually, balance will be achieved over time. Patience and perseverance is really the key.

As an entrepreneur myself, being your own lady boss, while tough, offers versatility in managing both the career and family aspects of your life. It is possible to achieve the work-life balance you want better with extra helping hands and having the system to do it effectively. System is whatever that works best for you and staying by it even during hectic times!

2) Ambition: Decide what you really want

In entrepreneurship, every journey starts with a goal. This goal is your destination and it will guide the key decisions you make and keep you and your team motivated when times get tough. In this step, you will set your goals for your business and lifestyle, and then choose a business model to match those goals.

If your job is draining you and you are finding it difficult to do the things you love outside of work, something is wrong. You may be working in a toxic environment, for a toxic person, or doing a job that you truly don’t love. If this is the case, it is time to find a new job or start something on your own. Whichever it is, it has been within your capability and the end of the day, something you enjoy waking up to.

3) Ambition: Achieve More Through Strengths

Your biggest personal strength would be something that comes very easily for you. Take some time and think about what comes naturally for you. It could be anything. The best entrepreneurs focus on what they do well and outsource the rest. Really, it’s all about passion. Every one of us has the opportunity to lead a passion-driven life; we just need to put the time in to understand what we expect from ourselves.

4) Ambition: Leverage On Technology

It’s 2019. Almost everything is possible and if used efficiently, technology can make all aspects of your personal and professional strategy — scheduling, collaborating, project management — easier. For Mum’s with a passion for work, it’s possible to work from home if you have an idea and the enthusiastic team to go after your goals. With smartphones and tablets now on hand for everyone, it’s a brave new world—and workplace.

5) Ambition: Connect With People

It is impossible to succeed in business on your own. The key is connecting with others who can help you make it happen, including customers, suppliers, partners, and staff. And one of the most valuable ways I’ve found to connect with others in the entrepreneurial space is by finding a market place. By, you will discover the benefits of a market place, and how you can use it to connect with others.
